US Patent

A utility patent applies to an invention that is a useful process, machine, article of manufacture, or composition of matter.

Examination

Assignments can be made to change the owner of a patent. Assignments can be recorded with the PTO with the appropriate form and proof of the assignment.

Patent fees are the fees required by the USPTO to process a patent application. The fees can vary depending on the type of application, the number of claims, the type of claims, and the size of the entity applying for the patent. Small entities are often entitled to fees reduced by 50%.
