Lei Jiang Speaks at International Woman’s Day Celebration

On March 27, 2011, the Chinese Women Association of Cleveland (CWAC) hosted its annual Woman’s Day Celebration at Li Wah Restaurant. Over a hundred guests from Cleveland and nearby cities joined the celebration. As President of the CWAC, Ms. Jiang spoke at the beginning of the celebration. She thanked all the sponsors, supporters, members, friends, and a number of companies and organizations and promised that the CWAC would continue its efforts in serving women and the community. She urged more women to join the CWAC and welcomed valuable suggestions, which would make the CWAC better.

The CWAC was founded in 1996. The mission of the CWAC is to assist Chinese women and their families on a variety of issues, from gender discrimination and social injustice to business development and economic empowerment.  Over the past fifteen years, it has educated women on social and gender issues that might harm their development, empowered women through skills development, promoted Asian women’s roles in U.S. society, and cultivated strong bonds among women in the Greater Cleveland area. As a tradition, each year the CWAC will host International Woman’s Day Celebration, Mother’s Day Celebration and Mid-autumn Festival Celebration. Members of the CWAC will enjoy discounts at a number of stores and free training in many classes such as traditional Chinese painting, Asian cooking, and Japanese ikebana.
